MY PHILOSOPHY
As I progressed through medical school and subsequently embarked on my career in diverse healthcare settings, I have developed a multifaceted set of philosophies and beliefs that serve as the foundation of my approach to patient care.
One of the most fundamental principles guiding my approach is the recognition that healthcare is a fundamental human right and should be accessible to all individuals. The World Health Organization (WHO) defines health as a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being. Maintaining good health involves lifestyle choices, behaviors, preventive medicine, and chronic medication, which are essential for the well-being of individuals within their families, relationships, academic pursuits, and career endeavors.
Furthermore, I acknowledge the unique healthcare needs of women, children, individuals with disabilities, and members of the LGBTQIA+ communities. These populations often face challenges in accessing quality healthcare, and my practice is committed to providing a comprehensive and sensitive service that addresses their specific needs. I strive to ensure that vulnerable individuals and groups receive appropriate treatment, referrals to specialized services and providers when necessary.
In our increasingly fast-paced and stressful society, we encounter a myriad of uncertainties and unprecedented events. These factors, such as violence and human conflict, crime, malnutrition, climate change, and the pervasive influence of social media, have adverse effects on our well-being. Stress, anxiety, and substance use disorders have reached alarming levels. My practice and network of providers are dedicated to managing and mitigating the impact of these social determinants of health and emerging health threats.

WHAT OUR PATIENTS SAY

ABOUT ME
My name is Nyiko Mathebula, meaning "Gift" in Xitsonga, my native language.
I graduated from the University of Cape Town in 2019 and began my career in 2020 amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. During my internship at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital, I gained experience at several facilities, including Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital and Alexandra CHC.
I later served at Evander District Hospital in Mpumalanga, working in Maternity, HIV and TB clinics, Outpatients, and Emergency Departments.
Transitioning from urban to rural healthcare enriched my skills and deepened my awareness of healthcare disparities.
After completing my community service, I joined Netcare Linmed Hospital's emergency unit and various private hospitals, gaining insight into optimal healthcare systems. Promoted to Principal Clinical Manager, I developed expertise in healthcare management and team leadership.
I aim to prioritise quality healthcare, enhancing both services and user experiences. Outside work, I enjoy running, hiking, photography, music, and spending time with loved ones. I look forward to establishing my own modern, technologically advanced practice.
Dr Mathebula has always been able to understand where I come from and why certain health needs are important for me.
